Leading Journal of the Irish & UK Fishing Industries

With a passion for developing the best boats on the sea, G. Smyth Boats have built a reputation for building boats that reflect integrity, with owner Gerald Smyth taking great pride in the finished product and developing strong long-term relationships with customers.

Based in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland, Gerald and his team place great value in building boats that are a product of hands on experience, strong work values and a passion for the sea.

Speaking of his involvement in the 2024 Irish Skipper Expo, Gerald says, “Last year we launched our new 9.2m Maxus Fast Cat and we are delighted to be showcasing this at the Skipper Expo this year.

“The Maxus Fast Cat comes in at 9.2m length and 4m beam. The finished prototype is fitted with two outboard Selva Sei Whales that have currently reached top speeds of 32 knots. We will also be bringing information on our other builds such as the GM7M and our other Maxus Catamarans.”

“We were delighted that ‘Inter-Nos’ made it home to Newlyn, Cornwall just in time for Christmas,” says Gerry.

“The vessel is fitted with twin Volvo Penta D8A5-A-MH engines and other equipment on board includes a Spencer Carter 3000lb slave hauler with a MV500 motor and a thistle lift crane with a telescopic extension. There is a LS125-sc hose pump and a triplex purse seins net hailer also on board.”
