Thyboron Trawldoor – the global leader in innovative and transformative trawldoor manufacturing – have once again reached new heights with the launch of their new design TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM which is said to be the strongest spreading trawldoor ever made.

Visitors to the Irish Skipper Expo 2024 will have the opportunity to explore the latest range of controllable trawldoor solutions, including the TYPE 32 BLUESTREAM and TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM, with the Thyboron Trawldoor experts on hand to showcase the results and promising feedback they have experienced from customers using their latest models.

Detailing the success of the their controllable trawl doors, Sales Manager Henrik Andreassen says, “our trawl doors are renowned for their stability and versatility, with our ground-breaking Bluestream doors featuring patented moveable foils that can minimise the total area of the doors and thereby adjust spreading power and water resistance.”

“We recently went to tank with about 50 Icelandic fishermen together with Hampidjan, demonstrating our new controllable trawl doors and delivered a fully controllable trawl door system in recent months to HAVSNURP, KRISTIN and ASTRID – receiving great praise all round, with the skipper of the Swedish Kristin, saying that they are ‘fantastic’.

“In 2024, so far we will deliver systems to the ISAFOLD, BEINUR, ELIN & OCEAN VENTURE,  HÀKON, CHARISMA & ANTARES – Maybe you are next.”

Typically manufactured in HARDOX450 or STRENX performance steel with a size and weight best-suited the trawl and speeds deployed for each fishery, the Bluestreams have been developed to meet each vessel’s specific requirements and fishing patterns. Incorporating quick set-up adjustments, they are enabling a growing number of fishing companies to reach new cost-efficiency and environmental impact reduction goals.

The trawl doors can be controlled via a wireless acoustic link from hull-mounted hydrophones, or with the third wire, enabling the skipper to monitor the doors in the wheelhouse screen display and to fine-tune the doors’ performance remotely from the wheelhouse.

The easy-to-use open-end design software can be customised and adapted to a skipper’s specific needs or preferences.
