Major Dail Debate on Proposed 2026 Quota Cuts for Irish Fishermen
Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Fisheries and the Marine and Party Whip, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has confirmed that a major debate on the current crisis facing the Irish Fishing Industry will be held next Wednesday 22nd October.
The debate is due to start at 3:30pm and continue to close of business at 7pm and will give a chance for TD,s from all parties to raise issues affecting the fishing industry and coastal communities in light of the proposed savage quota cut flagged for 2026
Speaking to The Skipper he said:
“I had proposed that statements be held in the Dáil on this devastating crisis for our fishing communities. All of the opposition parties supported me in this call.”
“I welcome confirmation from the government that the Dáil will have statements for over three hours next week. A large number of cross-party TDs can speak up for their affected communities.”
“This will put a big spotlight on how they have been so badly failed but also on what needs to be done to start to turn this around.”
