The current negative COVID-19 developments and government measures both domestically and internationally have convinced the Board of Stichting Visserijdagen Urk, the organizer of Holland Fisheries Event, to cancel the 11th exhibition edition.

The great uncertainty regarding the developments around COVID-19 and the measures that the national and international governments may take, on top of the current restrictive measures, are determining factors for the final decision to cancel the exhibition, which was due to take place on October 2 and 3.

“Despite all the precautions we can take, in the end it just proves too difficult to guarantee that we can organise a successful event in a safe environment,” says Klaas-Jelle Koffeman, chairman of Stichting Visserijdagen Urk.

The Board has had intensive contact with the most important stakeholders about the decision; the municipality of Urk, main sponsor Flynth advisers and accountants, main media partner Visserijnieuws and the exhibition location De Koningshof.

The exhibition organisation have received sympathetic reactions from exhibitors about the decision taken, and HFE is currently investigating the possibilities that online media can offer in the field of virtual presentations and meetings on the same date.

The next edition of the biennial fishing and maritime fair will be held on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 October 2022.
