Trainee Deckhand of the Year Award 2025 at the Scottish Maritime Academy
What better way to start the year than by celebrating student achievement! We’re delighted to announce Lewis Crosbie as our Trainee Deckhand of the Year winner for 2025!
Lewis is a fisherman onboard the local vessel Harvest Hope PD120, and this award recognises the determination and resilience he showed throughout his time at college on our Trainee Deckhand course and early stages of his career at sea to date. Lewis successfully pushed through the tough early trips at sea and has now forged a career for himself with a berth — a fantastic and well-deserved achievement.
Lewis is pictured with his skipper Colin Stephen, and was presented with the award by Ewan Rattray, Harbour Master, representing our main course sponsor Peterhead Port Authority
