Leading Journal of the Irish & UK Fishing Industries

Limerick will once again play host to a sea of fishermen and marine industry leaders from around the world who will sail in for Ireland’s flagship fishing exhibition, The Irish Skipper Expo, which will take place from the Friday 23rd – Saturday 24th February in UL Sport Arena, Castletroy.

With over 125 companies confirmed to exhibit to date, the show highlights the continued resilience and optimism of the industry, fuelling the hope that our prosperous coastline and historic ports will once again thrive under Irish Fishermen.

Fully focused on the motto, ‘Your Industry, Your Show,’ the Irish Skipper Expo is a showcase of leading marine products and services for the commercial fishing industry, with everything from €60 lobster pots to €6,000,000 boat sales taking place over the course of the two days.

Sharon Boyle, Commercial Fishing Manager with show organiser Mara Media explains,

“The show will feature a fantastic range of products and services from the world’s leading marine brands.  We have a huge variety of exhibiting companies this year, with every product and service represented – from shipyards to marine electronics, deck machinery, trawl gear and creels, as well as catch handling systems, insurance services and offshore wind energy.”

The focus of the Irish Skipper Expo is to give the industry a professional platform to conduct business in a face-to-face setting, giving business owners the rare opportunity to speak to a range of suppliers under the one roof.

Show organisers, Mara Media, also take great pride in creating a relaxed, informal setting where people from across the industry can come together to catch up with old friends and network with business associates each year.

With lots of uncertainty in the fishing industry in the last number of years, Sharon believes that it is important to provide exhibitors and their guests with an opportunity to network in a social setting.

“We are delighted to confirm that we are hosting our complimentary show reception in the famous traditional pub and live music venue – Dolan’s Bar & Restaurant in Limerick city. With live music and refreshments, the reception will give exhibitors and their guests an opportunity to relax and network after a busy first day on Friday 23rd February.”

As well as this, Castletroy is set to become conference central on the eve of the show with the IFA Aquaculture’s annual conference and AGM taking place at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel and The NMCI’S Seafarer Conference taking place at the Castletroy Hotel on Thursday 23rd March.
