Leading Journal of the Irish & UK Fishing Industries

With virtually every type of equipment and support service in the commercial fishing sector represented, the 2024 Scottish Skipper Expo is shaping up to be the best to date, with a huge representation of national and international companies from across the industry.

Over 160 companies from 16 different countries are now confirmed to take part in the show, including a record breaking display of 7 inshore boats within the exhibition hall. With vessels from Poleson Marine, G Smyth Boats, Audacious Marine, Warrior Boats and CJ Marine visitors get to check out inshore boat designs in person and meet with builders to discuss their own needs.

As Sharon Boyle, Commercial Fishing Manager with show organiser’s Mara Media says, “From creels to trawls, electronics, vessels on display, seating, fish bins, safety wear, deck machinery, engines, propellers – the Scottish Skipper Expo will have it all!

Taking place on Thursday 9th & Friday 10th May at P&J Live, Aberdeen, this year’s event sponsored by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, and Peterhead Port Authority will mark the 12th Scottish Skipper exhibition, with both visitors and exhibitors citing the event as the most widely anticipated international fishing exhibition of the year.

Sharon continues, “With the show moving to every two years after 2024, it is wonderful to see such strong exhibitor interest, which will ensure that this will be a fabulous show for everyone. We are delighted that the Scottish Skipper Expo has become renowned for being such a great place to do business in a relaxed setting.

“We are also thrilled to have a variety of boats on display at the show which will offer our visitors the opportunity to view the different designs and features first hand, with the added bonus of having the suppliers and shipbuilders also at the show who will be able to offer expert advice on what would suit their specific needs.”

With the show now taking place midweek, the Show Reception will be held on Thursday 9th May at the Douglas Hotel, Aberdeen at 7:30pm. Sponsored by Commercial Oils, Sunderland Marine and Yanmar, the event promises to be the perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and socialise after a busy opening day.

The complimentary event will feature fresh seafood expertly prepared by the catering team at the Douglas Hotel and welcome drinks on arrival. Exhibitors and their guests will also be treated to live music by the Glasgow based family folk band Atlantic Reel who will entertain the crowd throughout the night.

Visitor Registration

Entry to the event is free, and while visitors can turn-up on either day and register, it makes sense to register your attendance online beforehand, so as to ensure there is minimal waiting time at the entrance, giving you more time to browse the increasing number of stands at the show.
