Echomaster Marine had a great deal of interest in their new 290kHz Sonar from Hondex at the Galway show this year. The HE-773II-DI sonar was designed to meet the needs of inshore fishing vessels who require a cost-effective, comprehensive sonar solution that is available with a choice of either manual or automatic hoist.

The sonar features three operational modes – Sonar, Bottom Sonar and traditional Echosounder, and users will find that the 290kHz frequency provides higher resolution images for fish and bottom detection, whilst not interfering with the traditionally popular mackerel frequency of 200kHz.

Skipper Alan Pottinger of the Boy Frazer II (LK 137) attended the Skipper Expo in Galway and was able to receive training from Hondex representative Mr Ryo Sakai who had travelled from Japan in order to support the Echomaster Team at this years’ Expo, and following this, the first two HE-773II-DI sonars have successfully been deployed in Shetland.

Echomaster reports that customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive which has already led to a number of additional sales that are currently being prepared for shipment.
