New Build Sets The Bar For Crew Transfer Vessels
The ‘Ocean Transfer’ is a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose crew transfer vessel designed in collaboration with Marine Design International, Atlantic Towage & Marine Ltd, and Mooney Boats Ltd. This innovative vessel sets a new standard for the crew transfer and marine contractor markets, delivering versatility, efficiency, and advanced functionality in a compact, road-transportable design.
Built to meet a wide range of marine regulations and standards, the Ocean Transfer complies with Irish Marine and Survey Office P5, UK Workboat Code 3, and Marine Classification Society Bureau Veritas Hull Ce-B mod B+F SEA AREA 2. The vessel also meets various ISO standards, ensuring it is fully equipped to operate in waters across Europe. What sets this vessel apart is its compliance with European road weight and height restrictions, allowing it to be easily transported across the continent by road—making it available for rapid deployment to worksites within days.
High-Performance Propulsion and Control
The Ocean Transfer is powered by three 425hp V8 5.6L Petrol Yamaha outboard engines, delivering speeds of 35 knots+ (with fuel consumption of 90 l/h Per Engine @ 35kn) The Yamaha Helm Master system, integrated with the vessel’s bow thruster, provides precise control akin to dynamic positioning systems. With joystick control from the helm, even less experienced operators can manoeuvre the vessel with millimetre precision. The system offers features such as course hold, waypoint following, pattern searches, and emergency manoeuvres like the Williamson turn at the touch of a button.
The vessel’s control is further enhanced by automatic trim tab stabilisation, which adjusts to optimise pitch, roll, and turn, improving both fuel efficiency and overall performance. Paired with Nor Sap 150 Performance suspension seats, these features offer unmatched comfort and control, setting a new standard for vessels of this size.
Designed for Durability and Comfort
Constructed from class-approved marine-grade aluminium, the hull and deckhouse are built to withstand tough marine environments, with all welding carried out by class-approved coded engineers at the Mooney Boats Ltd Shipyard. The vessel’s structural design was first modelled in 3D, allowing for comprehensive compliance checks and revisions before construction began.
Inside, the modern and ergonomic interior enhances passenger comfort while maximising storage space. The bespoke helm and navigation console is designed with functionality in mind, while LED mood lighting, heated ventilation, and USB charging ports add convenience for passengers. The aft cabin features a compact galley, complete with a tea-making facility and under-counter fridge.
Versatility and Innovation on Deck
The vessel’s deck is equipped with four 0.7-ton capstans, located on each quarter, along with attachment points for diver ladders and surveying equipment. Storage compartments below deck and system service areas are easily accessible via deck hatches, ensuring the vessel is ready for a wide range of multi-purpose contracts.
One of the standout features of the Ocean Transfer is the frameless glass deckhouse, offering a sleek, modern appearance with continuous wrap-around tinted windows. A small access hatch on the aft deckhouse bulkhead enables divers’ umbilical cords to be passed into the heated cabin, connecting directly to dive computers inside. For added convenience, the vessel includes a wet room / onboard toilet, accessed from the aft deck.
The forward deckhouse features a top-hinged canopy door, a signature design element that solves the common problem of restricted visibility found in similar vessels. This design allows for an unobstructed forward view from the helm, whether the door is open or closed. Engineered with marine-grade stainless steel gas rams, the door operates easily in all conditions. For those preferring a different setup, a standard vertical door option is also available upon request.
Ready for Action Across Europe
At the bow, a raised working platform facilitates wind farm engineers’ embarkation, while the hull is protected by Tecnofender high-strength foam, providing lightweight yet durable protection without compromising performance.
The Ocean Transfer represents the future of multi-purpose crew transfer vessels. Built with precision, performance, and versatility in mind, it is ready to serve various marine industries across Europe.
