Leading Journal of the Irish & UK Fishing Industries

Dorset-headquartered maritime company Marine Components International (MCI) is set to highlight its range of innovative, ground-breaking products to the fishing industry at the Scottish Skipper Expo in Aberdeen in May.

MCI, a major supplier of fire dampers to the maritime industry, has seen sales rise significantly over the last 12 months and will use the show to place a major focus on the BSB A60 Series Marine Fire Dampers.

In January this year MCI secured a new contract to supply fire dampers for eight new vessels being built by a major shipyard in Spain, with an option to provide them for a further 12.

It has also won orders to supply wind farm support vessels and is working on several large ongoing projects.

MCI managing director Andy Scott says, “A major factor in winning these contracts has been the remarkable turnround time, from point of order to despatch in 8-10 working days.”

A60 Approved Fire Dampers are mandatory under SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) regulations and all MCI dampers comply with these regulations which are approved by the European Marine Directive (MED) and US Coast Guard (USGC).

MCI’s A60 fire dampers are available in square/rectangular and circular configurations in either marine 316 grade stainless or galvanised steel to a very high quality and are very competitively priced.

MCI will also be using the expo to highlight a range of other High Quality and innovative products to the fishing sector and trawler operators. These include:

  • The US-manufactured Groco range of bronze valves and strainers, hugely respected for their quality and durability. Groco has been manufacturing high quality marine products since 1919, and so can really be regarded as true pioneers in producing Bronze Valves, Strainers and fittings
  • Lasdrop marine dripless shaft seals. Lasdrop is the only company to offer both Lip (Dry Seal and Elite Seal) and Face seals (Gen 2). Extremely durable and easy and quick to install, with compact design, competitive pricing and suitable for almost every installation with sizes available up to 8”/203mm dry seal and 4”/100mm for the Gen 2
  • The Calypso Ultra-Low Power Wired Ultrasonic anemometer, an extremely accurate and reliable wind speed and direction device with minimal power consumption
  • Echopilot’s industry leading real time 3D Forward Looking Sonar, 20 x depth forward range, which now includes direct integration to Raymarine Axiom Displays and is easily connected to the raynet via an RJ45 to Raynet cable

MCI managing director Andy Scott said: “We’re really looking forward to the event in Aberdeen and showcasing these products to the fishing industry.

“It is a great opportunity for us to meet people, make new contacts and further raise our profile in the industry and is an ideal platform to highlight all we have to offer to shipyards, marine engineers and operators.”
