The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has been advised that America Europe Connect 2, will be installing a subsea fibre optic cable in Irish waters, off the coast of County Mayo.

Weather permitting, the works will start on 17th May 2020 and finish on 16th June 2020. The works involved in the installation of the subsea fibre optic telecommunications cable are as follows:

1. Pre Lay Grapnel Run undertaken by the CS Responder from 17th to 19th May 2020.

2. Cable Installation works undertaken by the CS Responder from 20th May to 16th June 2020.

There are four vessels involved in this operation. They are:

All vessels will carry the appropriate signals and lights. All vessels will be listening on VHF Channel 16. The CS Responder will be restricted in movement, so vessels are requested to provide a wide berth.
