GP Marine Projects

GP Marine are available on demand and travel the country seven days a week to carry out a range of services from chain inspections to vessel repairs and recoveries.

Earlier in the year, Cuan Marine Services commissioned GP Marine to video record the seagrass condition around the entire circumference of the new eco-friendly moorings on Strangford Lough.

This was carried out as part of the trials of eco-friendly boat moorings which was conducted by Cuan Marine Services in partnership with local mooring owners on Strangford Lough.  The initiative was funded through the NIEA Challenge Fund which forms part of a larger initiative, aiming to support those seeking improvements to their local aquatic environment.

The work carried out by GP Marine in assessing the condition of the seagrass around the moorings, led to the decision to trial two different types of moorings in Ballyhenry Bay. These systems include Seaflex, an elastic and environmentally friendly mooring solution and Sterling which uses floats to keep the chain off the seabed.

Another successful project carried out recently by the company included the inspection of a fish farm service vessel in Killybegs, Co. Donegal, which saw the team of divers carrying out a survey of the vessel on a Sunday morning and completing the repair to get the vessel back operational with minimal downtime.

As well as this, the dive team mobilise to recover sunken vessels throughout the country, with the company investing in state-of-the-art recovery equipment which allows them to salvage everything from small pleasure crafts to larger commercial vessels.

GP Marine will be exhibiting at the Irish Skipper Expo for the first time in 2023 and the team are very much looking forward to meeting new and existing customers. Visit stand 31 to find out more about the range of services they offer.
