Since 1986, the Irish Nautical Trust has played a pivotal role in preserving maritime heritage while offering essential maritime skills training to young adults. The Trust’s Comprehensive Maritime Training Course is a hands-on, full-time program that provides students with practical experience in navigation, seamanship, radio communication, and more, preparing them for careers in the fast expanding maritime industry.
Held at the Poolbeg Boat and Yacht Club, the course spans 12 to 14 weeks and combines both classroom instruction and real-world application. Graduates gain certifications, experience, and connections that position them for careers in Dublin Port, the Irish Sea, or even internationally.
The program is open to adults 18 and older, primarily those in between jobs or looking to change up their direction, welcoming those eager to explore life on the water and develop a professional skillset. Success stories include graduates who have gone on to prestigious maritime colleges or joined the green energy sector, showcasing the diverse opportunities available.
Additionally, participants gain practical experience out at sea, honing their skills in handling vessels in real conditions, further preparing them for diverse maritime careers.
