Leading Journal of the Irish & UK Fishing Industries

Belfast based Drug and Alcohol Testing company, NIVHA will exhibit at the Irish Skipper Expo for the first time this year, with founders Simon Cosbey and Wilbur McDonald hoping to highlight the benefits of the service to strengthen the safety of the fishing industry.

Established in 1992, NIVHA has grown immensely, and now covers a range of industries across all corners of Ireland.

Speaking of the company’s broad focus, Paul Carroll of NIVHA said, “While the company’s main work is Drug and Alcohol Testing in Industry, we also do analysis for the Probation Service in NI and Tusla in ROI.

“We do all types of Drug and Alcohol testing from Oral Fluid and Urine to Breath and Hair. We also have an onsite PCR facility for Covid 19 testing. Another service we provide is for DNA paternity / family tracing.”

NIVHA covers all corners of Ireland, with their headquarters based in the Titanic Quarters Belfast, as well as a base in Co. Cavan that services the Republic of Ireland. The company also operates across the UK and Scotland.

Paul further explains, “NIVHA can provide a bespoke suite of services depending on the specific needs of the customer. We can do onsite testing or provide the customer with the expertise and equipment to do their own testing, whichever the customer requires.”

With the company already supporting many ports in both Northern Ireland and the Republic, they are attending the show in the hope to generate custom from the Marine Industry and ultimately creating a safer working environment for all.

“We will have live Drug and Alcohol Testing on site and will have our equipment on show and available for trial. We will also have consultants on the stand to discuss and explain our work, as well as a video rolling showing just how simple and smooth the process is,” said Paul Carroll.
