Leading Journal of the Irish & UK Fishing Industries

With virtually every type of equipment and support service in the commercial fishing sector represented, the 2023 Scottish Skipper Expo is shaping up to be the best to date, with a huge representation of national and international companies from across the industry.

Over 165 companies from 16 different countries are now confirmed to take part in the show, including three of Denmark’s leading ports: Port of Skagen, Port of Hanstholm and Port of Hirtshals.

Taking place on the 12th & 13th May at P&J Live, Aberdeen, this year’s event (sponsored by the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation) will mark the 11th Scottish Skipper exhibition, with both visitors and exhibitors citing the event as the most widely anticipated international fishing exhibition of the year.

Henrik Andreassen of Thyboron Trawldoors remarked that the 2022 show was the “Best arranged exhibition that we participate in, and we do a lot,” while visitor Ashley Mullinger expressed her enjoyment stating, “it was so great to be able to meet up with people again and amazing to see all of the products, innovations and technologies on offer. Great location, great venue and I felt extremely welcomed by The Skipper Staff base at the expo and their evening event.”

The Show Reception will also return once again this year on Friday 12th May at the Douglas Hotel, Aberdeen at 7:30pm. Sponsored by Commercial Oils and Yanmar, the event promises to be the perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and socialise after a busy opening day.

Fresh seafood will be supplied by Messers J. Smith Fish Merchants, MFV Sunrise, and GJ Jack Seafoods, and expertly prepared by the catering team at the Douglas Hotel. The event, which will feature live music, will be open to all exhibitors and their guests on an invite basis.

Sharon Boyle, Commercial Fishing Manager for show organiser, Mara Media, said: “It is wonderful to see such strong exhibitor interest in the expo, which will ensure that this will be a fabulous show for everyone. We are delighted that the Scottish Skipper Expo has become renowned for being such a great place to do business in a relaxed setting, particularly with the addition of our show reception.

“We are also thrilled to have a variety of boats on display at the show which will offer our visitors the opportunity to view the different designs and features first hand, with the added bonus of having the suppliers and shipbuilders also at the show who will be able to offer expert advice on what would suit their specific needs.”

Visitor Registration

Entry to the event is free, and while visitors can turn-up on either day and register, it makes sense to register your attendance online beforehand, so as to ensure there is minimal waiting time at the entrance, giving you more time to browse the increasing number of stands at the show.

Online registration can be accessed via The Skipper website at: https://theskipper.ie/scottish-skipper-expo/
