Castletroy set to be Conference Central Once Again

16-11-23 NMCI’s Seafarer’s Conference 2024 Announced   ‘Realising Ireland’s Maritime Ambition’   Issued 16th November 2023 - The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) has announced its third annual Seafarers’ Conference ‘Realising Ireland’s Maritime Ambition’, which will take place on 22 February 2024 in the Castletroy Park Hotel in Co. Castletroy  is once again set to welcome a stream of industry leaders on the eve of the Irish Skipper Expo, with the IFA set to once again host their Annual AGM & Conference and the NMCI set to host the Annual Seafarer’s Conference.

IFA Aquaculture’s Annual Conference and AGM

Taking place at the Kilmurry Lodge Hotel on Thursday 22nd February, the IFA Aquaculture’s annual conference and AGM will provide members with a great opportunity to attend the conference and visit the many stands at the show offering products and services to improve the aquaculture sector.

A full agenda for the day will be issued in advance of the event but will include an update from DAFM Officials on Aquaculture policy & licensing, a focus on Offshore Renewable Energy & Irish Aquaculture, the Nature Restoration Law & Irish Aquaculture and also an update on funding programmes & upcoming EMFAF schemes.

NMCI’S Seafarer’s Conference

At the opposite side of the village, the Castletroy Hotel will host the NMCI’S Seafarer’s Conference, also on Thursday 22nd February.

With the theme of ‘Realising Ireland’s Maritime Ambition’ the conference, sponsored by Simply Blue Group, will once again bring together representatives from Ireland’s maritime industry, supply chain workforce, and training & education institutions to explore the opportunities that exist to support and grow the fishing and offshore wind industries in Ireland in tandem.

Speakers at the event will include Robert McGuiness, Director of the Offshore Wind Energy Taskforce DECC, Caroline Bocquel, CEO, BIM, Noel Cunniffe, CEO Wind Energy Ireland, Brian Hogan, Chief Surveyor Marine Survey Office and Laura Brien, CEO Maritime Area Regulatory Authority (MARA). .

Among the topics for discussion include enabling Ireland’s offshore renewable energy ambition, the International experience of meeting maritime ambition, enabling Ireland’s fishing ambition and what success looks like in 2034.
