Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, is delighted to announce its return as the headline sponsor for the Irish Skipper Expo, supported by the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF). The annual trade show is taking place at the University of Limerick Sport Arena on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 February, 2024.
BIM staff working at the event will be on hand to share updates on funding opportunities, fishing conservation methods, and training and advisory supports for industry. Visitors to the event will also have the opportunity to discuss their specific training and skills development needs with BIM instructors on its Coastal Training Unit ( CTU). A model display of selective gear will be on view beside the CTU allowing visitors to learn about ongoing developments in gear technology that is helping to better manage stocks and enhance sustainable fishing practices.
BIM‘s Aquaculture Remote Classroom (ARC) will be on site again this year and welcoming visitors throughout the two-day trade expo. The ARC’s immersive experience provides a unique opportunity to explore the world of aquaculture and gain a deeper understanding of how seafood is sustainably farmed in Ireland.
“We are delighted to be the main sponsor of the Irish Skipper Expo in 2023,” said Caroline Bocquel, CEO BIM. “This is a key event for industry. It not only showcases the latest advancements in the seafood industry but also fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing among industry professionals. We look forward to engaging with visitors at this year’s event, exploring potential funding opportunities, and promoting BIM supports and services and sustainable fishing practices.”
