Riverdale Mills was founded in1980, when many doubted the future of the lobster industry. The Knott family believed otherwise. The lobster industry was transformed with the invention of Aquamesh®, a first-of-its-kind, marine wire mesh designed to withstand the harsh ocean environment. Today,  Aquamesh is used by fishermen in Ireland, and around the globe.

CEO Jim Knott, Jr. says the keys to the company’s success are an intense focus on innovation, a deep-rooted dedication to our employees, an unwavering determination to deliver superior products, and a commitment to staying ahead of the customers’ needs.

“Partnering with fishermen and women around the world and providing sustainable and money saving products like Aquamesh® has been one of the keys to our long-term success,” said Jim. “We exist, have always existed, to help lobstermen lobster better.”

Aquamesh® is versatile marine wire mesh that resists rust, algae, and hard fouling, reduces plastic waste, and fishermen spend less time repairing and a lot more time fishing. Creels, trays and cages made exclusively with Aquamesh® last for years and are a top choice for catching lobsters and cultivating shellfish.

Malachy Murrin, inshore manager for Swan Net Gundry Ltd., is dedicated to customer focus, innovation, and excellence. That includes working with Riverdale Mills and using Aquamesh to fix their creels and pots.

“The Riverdale team understands our business and works closely with us to ensure delivery of the company’s Aquamesh wire, which is ideal for building and fixing lobster pots,” said Malachy.  “The rugged panels are easy to handle, store, and shear, which reduces labor time and waste, helps to keep the fishermen’s costs low, and improves their probability.”

The demand for Aquamesh continues to grow exponentially. It is one of the leading wire mesh fabrics for building lobster and crab pots, and fish pens. Riverdale also sells the tools and accessories needed to assemble the pots and pens. Aquamesh® pots, cages, traps and wire can currently be purchased by contacting Ewen Adam ( sales@bluelobsterfishing.co.uk.) at Blue Lobster Fishing a longtime distributor of Riverdale’s marine and aquaculture products.

“Lobstermen and women around the globe expect nothing but the best from Riverdale Mills,” said Jim.  “Knowing that keeps us focused on manufacturing great products and delivering even greater customer service.”
